The old saying goes, life is full of surprises and you just never know what the next day will bring. If I’ve learnt anything over my life, it is that I must live everyday to its fullest potential.
Last summer, Hyl (my wife) and I decided we needed to get away — far away to a place where we could rebalance our mind, body and soul; a destination to recover and strengthen our will. We considered overseas destinations thought that would take too much time and since this was a last-minute opportunity, we decided to stay relatively close to home.
The light went off in my head after recalling a recommendation from a friend of this location in the snowy regions of New South Wales called Moonbah Hut. I quickly went online and had a look, it would be a perfectly secluded getaway!
OUR MOONBAH EXPERIENCE
We spent 5 nights in this wonderful piece of paradise. Located about 90 minutes from Canberra, we discovered the Moonbah Huts tucked away from the dog-eat-dog world on the banks of the Moonbah River in the heart of the scenic Moonbah Valley. My mind was set on a peaceful and quiet getaway. All I required was to hunker down with my beautiful wife, away from our daily life, while pampering ourselves with daily spa treatments, wonderful wine and delicious food. Tick…tick…tick… Moonbah Huts delivered the goods and so much more!
Yes, we indulged in daily spa treatments from nearby Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa. But I found myself more at peace back at our lake hut fishing the afternoons away and soaking up the summer sun. Funny how I’m not much for fishing, but for some reason, I just couldn’t break away from catching my next trout. I was truly in heaven, surrounded by awe-inspiring landscape, my soulmate, a bottle of Shiraz and Buster the resident border collie that wanders the property looking for a snack and a belly rub!! We were happy to oblige to Buster’s needs.
I tip my hat to Brett for creating this wonderful little oasis. The attention to detail with just the right amount of privacy was engineered to perfection. It was exactly the remedy Hyl and I both needed to really unwind and escape from the stress and pressure of catching up with life. Moonbah Hut brought back the essential balance for us to take on the unpredictable future once again.
To finish off, I have included a few pieces of information about Moonbah Huts if you plan to pop it on your bucket list.
